PROJECT SUMMARY
A role-based agri-export platform was built to connect international tigernut buyers with verified Nigerian farmers through a single agent-controlled intermediary. The system includes a buyer-facing marketing site for quote requests, a lightweight seller portal for stock updates, and an agent back office that manages every transaction. The goal was to build trust with overseas buyers while keeping farmer onboarding simple on low-end mobile devices.
The Challenge
Connecting international buyers with rural Nigerian farmers required solving conflicting needs: buyers needed fast, trust-building product pages with certifications, while farmers needed an ultra-light interface that works on 2G/3G with basic phones. The business model also demanded strict data separation so neither party could contact the other directly, adding complexity to authentication, messaging, and payment flows.
The Solution
A Next.js and Supabase-based platform was developed with fully separated buyer and seller experiences, role-based access control, and an agent back office acting as the sole bridge between both sides. Buyers get a streamlined RFQ form, product filtering, and uploaded lab certifications, while farmers use an OTP-login PWA for offline-capable stock updates. Escrow-based payments through Paystack and Stripe route all funds through the agent, with WhatsApp and SMS notifications keeping both sides informed without exposing contact details.
The Results
The platform reduced RFQ submission time to under 60 seconds for buyers while cutting farmer onboarding to roughly five minutes on basic smartphones. Manual coordination between buyers, sellers, and the agent was significantly streamlined through automated lead matching, quote generation, and order status tracking. The client was pleased with a system that maintained complete data separation while improving transaction speed and trust signals for international buyers.
